Starting from October 20, CROSTY ART SPACE is set to host its second product design exhibition.
The exhibition will feature the works of NS PRODUCT, which combines a series of unique chairs and other handmade items.
NS PRODUCT is the platform of the architectural company NS STUDIO, which has existed for 10 years and has been working on a range of successful projects in Georgia.
The founder and designer of NS STUDIO, Nini Chanturia, along with her team, has been developing the idea of creating product designs for years. She had a desire to enhance her architectural projects by introducing a range of diverse design elements. Nini teamed up with Rusudan Dushuashvili during their collaborative creative journey. Together, as they explored experimental forms, they conceived the idea for the chairs featured in the exhibition, drawing inspiration from the Georgian architectural ornament. The authors found it captivating to meld diverse materials into a single creation, using rough metal, wood, and cloth.
Each chair is characterized by flat forms that remind us of a two-dimensional image on a canvas, but looking at the work from a different angle allows it to be perceived as a sculptural piece. The chair's minimalistic forms, along with the velvety texture of its fabric surface, give the viewer a feeling of coziness. The raised backrest imparts monumentality, altering the chair's shape and introducing an unexpected imbalance, which is harmonized by the solid metal lines. The arrangement of the chairs is carefully selected based on the color contrast or gradation.
An integral part of the exhibition creation process involved meticulously sketching precise construction lines and comprehending their significance within the final composition, derived from the authors' architectural vision. Each piece within this collection, defined by its minimalist aesthetic, offers exclusivity and invites the visitor to discover the individualism concealed within simplicity.
