The primary inspiration for our composition stems from a visual exploration of Tbilisi cemeteries. Upon initial observation, we were impressed by the inter - actions of individuals with the given environment, noting both their physical and emotional connections to the forms within the space. Although the location and theme of our research may seem obscure to some, delving into a cemetery for inspiration, the emotions it evokes are universal: confusion, emptiness, longing, sadness, and at the same time, the joy found in memories. Our aim was to capture this unspoken communication as we conceptualized the installation.

While a chair is a major element in product design, those found in cemeteries mainly serve a basic, utilitarian purpose. Comfort, ergonomics and visual appeal take a back seat to the primary function of providing a brief rest for a visitor. The fascinating findings from our visual research inspired us to transform the information into an installation, show - casing it through carefully selected shapes, materials, and ideas. Through our observations, it became apparent that a regular individual, driven by functional needs and basic materials at hand, creates an element that becomes captivating with its brutal, primitive appearance. It became evident that in this context, we can group “chairs” based on shape, scale, and material. For our installation, we selected the silhouette of a chair made from metal with rectangular and curved shapes.

The leading element of the composition is a chair elevated on a platform. The minimalist shape, crafted from non-ferrous metal, draws attention with its lightness and airiness. Surrounding it are two additional elements that ultimately wrap the whole concept. The remaining two elements of the installation are built around it, culminating the entire concept.
